A whip of solidified sound harvested from a dying datasphere node, its length shimmering with visible waveforms.
When the depletion roll results in depletion, the lash does not simply stop working — it emits one final catastrophic shriek. All creatures within short range (including the wielder) must make a Might defense roll against difficulty 6 or take 6 points of damage and be stunned for two rounds. The whip then goes silent and rigid, becoming an ordinary if oddly beautiful decorative object.
The datasphere node this weapon was harvested from was not fully dead — a fragment of a prior-world intelligence is encoded in the standing waveforms. After 1d6+2 sessions of use, the wielder begins hearing whispered instructions in an unknown language during combat. A datasphere scholar (or the right cypher) could decode these as coordinates to a vault beneath a sea of glass two hundred miles south. The intelligence does not want to be found — it wants the wielder to destroy the vault. It has not told them this yet. If the weapon depletes and the vault remains intact, the intelligence will attempt to migrate into the wielder's auditory cortex instead.
