A fist-sized knot of obsidian-black wire wound around a pulsing amber core — salvaged, it seems, from the hinge of a door that once opened somewhere else.
Properties
- •Level 7 artifact
- •When activated, the Threshold Anchor designates a point in space within immediate range as a dimensional anchor. For the next 28 hours (one full day), any creature or object that passes through that point is tagged with a resonance signature detectable by the anchor's wielder up to 1 mile away.
- •The wielder may, once per activation, choose to 'collapse' the threshold: all tagged creatures within long range are simultaneously stunned for one round (Might defense roll, difficulty 7 to resist) as dimensional pressure equalizes violently.
- •The anchor also passively prevents any teleportation, dimensional travel, or datasphere-transit abilities from functioning within short range of the designated point while active.
- •Depletion: 1 in d10 each time the collapse ability is triggered.
Special Ability
When the amber core pulses three times in rapid succession (a warning the wielder learns to recognize), the anchor has detected a creature already bearing a resonance signature from a prior world — something that has passed through a similar threshold before. The GM should treat this as a significant discovery or a dangerous encounter.
